About this Course

Singapore Red Cross Academy, the training arm of Singapore Red Cross, provides humanitarian studies to build capacity and strengthen community resilience. The Academy is the region's go-to institute for humanitarian studies, backed by more than five decades of knowledge and expertise in teaching standards. It offers a series of specialised first aid and psychosocial support courses, as well as other humanitarian education programmes.

In 2023, Singapore Red Cross Academy trained over 15,000 people in various courses, and is trusted by over 1,300 companies for staff training. Singapore Red Cross Academy strives to empower individuals and communities to help save lives.

This 1-hour water safety education awareness e-course is designed to equip participants with the essential awareness of water safety and knowledge on how to respond to water hazards and accidents.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
  • List the general water safety rules and guidelines.
  • Identify the common water hazards.
  • Recognize situations of distress and recall the appropriate response actions in the event of water hazards or emergencies.
  • Cite examples of everyday items that could be used for water safety.
  • Describe the basic survival and rescue techniques in water.

Mr Ambrose Lee

Head, Centre of First Aid & Life Support, Singapore Red Cross Academy

Mr Ambrose Lee is a certified First Aid and Life Support Consultant since 2008 with the Singapore Red Cross Academy (SRCA). He is currently an Auditor and Chief Instructor Trainer with the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC). He extends his services regionally as a Regional First Aid Instructor Trainer with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and as an International First Aid Attestation (IFAA) Representative with the Global First Aid Reference Centre (GFARC).

Associate Consultant, Centre for First Aid and Resuscitation

Shirlyn is a passionate advocate for water safety education and an experienced swim instructor dedicated to empowering families and individuals with the knowledge and skills to stay safe in and around water. With years of experience in teaching learn to swim as well as teaching infants, toddlers, and individuals with special needs, Shirlyn combines expertise with a compassionate approach to make water safety accessible and engaging for all.
